Every ordinary person has the power to do extraordinary things.
We all have the ability to fight the pull of the status quo and take action.
Whether the call to adventure is to change our own lives or to improve our community or the world, Hero Town helps prepare you for these moments.
Hero Town conducts workshops that empower individuals to create positive change in themselves, their community, and the world.
Not only will participants leave with new knowledge and tools for progress, as well as new group of heroes in training from which each individual can draw strength in times of challenge.
The next Heroism training course will be announced shortly.

Are you facing a major change in your life?
Do you have an idea on how to improve your community or the world?
Wanting to know more about yourself and others to be a better citizen of the world?
Join us at the intro session to explore the nuances of heroism and prepare for your own heroic journeys.
Note: this session includes an overview of heroism and mindfulness.
In the first session, we explore:
Most importantly, this session begins the discussion of how we can build our own heroic imaginations and overcome the power of the situation – and our own minds – to step up and take action.
Every heroic action follows the path of a hero’s journey – whether it happens in brief moments or over the course of a lifetime. We’ll explore the Hero’s Journey as a pattern of navigating and transcending adversity, as well as a tool for self-awareness, insight, and narrative structure. We will also examine the differences between inner and outer heroism, as well as the themes of fear and risk, transformation and change. We will identify the resources available to achieve success and growth along each of your journeys.
Having prepared for change with improved self-awareness and insight using the Hero’s Journey, heroes must now face their challenges. This is not easy. Heroes in training will fail. This session redefines failure and success. We’ll work together on thought troubleshooting, understanding neuroplasticity, fixed and growth mindsets, practice mindfulness, and harnessing the power of our language. We will begin to develop mental resilience to overcome hurdles and setbacks, continue our personal development and growth, and prepare for future challenges and opportunities for action.
Note. This session will include only a brief introduction to mindfulness. If you’re interested in exploring mindfulness in more depth, please check out our Introduction to Mindfulness course.
Heroism requires action despite social norms. In this session we break down the bystander effect and other factors which may influence inaction, rather than action. We talk about very real risks and sacrifices heroes make — and how to process and minimise those risks. We provide realistic tools to overcome the many social pressures and empower positive deviance. We discuss, and practice, stepping up and standing out in social circumstances. These tools enable us to become agents of change for ourselves, our communities, and our world. We also work on the importance of looking after ourselves, before, during, and after acts of heroism — and ensure every individual has the tools for self-care.
In the final heroism session, we bring together the pillars of the Heroic Imagination to understand heroism, the hero’s journey, mindsets and mindfulness, and social resilience. We welcome personal reflection on what we have learned, how we have grown and developed over the five week course. We explore concepts in more depth, based on participant demand, and finish the course with goal-setting and planning for heroic action.
